Virtuemart 1.1.2 now inlcudes my shipping bypass feature built-in to the core.
However, there are still three nice-to-have features that are missing that are included in my new add-on:
- no payment method displays when customer is buying free downloads -- I display a new "Free -- No Payment Required" payment method;
- downloadable products can be any weight -- I force weight = 0
- a confusing "Message sent to <email address>"displays on the thank you page -- I suppress this message.
My new add-on also has something new: Generic Shipping Bypass products.
Do you have products that need to skip shipping, but are not download products, such as event tickets? My new add-on accomodates these products. I call them "Generic Shipping Bypass product per my blog article "Genericize Virtuemart".
I have the zero-weight option for Generic Shipping Bypass products included in my add-on.
Free Generic Shipping Bypass products are accomodated as well.
My add-on accomodates a mix of products in the cart: shippable, downloads, free downloads, generic shipping bypass, and free generic shipping bypass.
Just remember that if you have flex shipping your non-shippable products will nonetheless increase the shipping rat.
